Independent Living
An easier way to live.
For someone ready to stop managing a house alone.
Independent living communities offer private apartments or cottages with meals, housekeeping, transportation and a full calendar of activities. Hands-on care isn’t included, so the monthly cost pays for lifestyle and services rather than caregivers.
Many independent living communities in the Valley share a campus with assisted living and memory care, so a resident can get more support later without leaving friends behind. That is one of the first things we look at.
It may be time if your loved one…
- Is managing well but finds the house too much
- Has stopped driving, or soon will
- Eats alone most nights and would enjoy company
- Wants a plan in place before a crisis forces one
- Is part of a couple where one partner may need more help later
How we help
- Talk through what a good week would look like
- Match communities by location, size, style and budget
- Find out what happens if care needs change later
- Arrange tours and, where offered, short trial stays
- Point you toward help with downsizing and moving
Paying for it
Independent living is almost always paid privately. Some communities charge monthly rent only, and others also ask for an entrance fee. Medicare and ALTCS don’t cover independent living. We make sure you understand the contract before you sign.
Common questions
What is the difference between independent living and a 55+ community?
A 55+ community is usually housing with an age requirement. Independent living adds services: meals, housekeeping, transportation and organized activities, often with care available nearby when it’s needed.
Is it too early to look?
Probably not. Moving while healthy usually means more choice and an easier adjustment, and looking doesn’t commit you to anything.
Other care options
Not sure this is the right fit?
It’s common to start out looking at one kind of care and end up choosing another. We’ll help you compare.

Memory Care Secured, structured settings for someone living with dementia. -
