About senior placement in Phoenix and Scottsdale

The central Valley has more senior living choices than anywhere else in Arizona, and that is both the good news and the hard part. Whether you are looking in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills or Cave Creek, there are usually more options than any family has time to visit.

We help you narrow them down. Tell us about the person you’re helping, what they need day to day and where family will be visiting from, and we’ll find the few places worth seeing, check their pricing and openings, and set up the tours.

Our help is free to your family. How we are paid.

The local picture

What senior living looks like in Phoenix and Scottsdale

Senior living here ranges from large assisted living and memory care communities along the main corridors to small residential care homes on ordinary residential streets. Central Phoenix and Scottsdale have many established communities; newer buildings tend to sit further north, toward the Loop 101.

Location matters more than most families expect. A community that looks perfect online can mean an hour in traffic for the person who visits most. We look at the drive as well as the building, and we keep an eye on where a move might lead later, so someone isn’t forced to move again when their needs change.

Leaving the hospital or rehab

When a discharge date is set and home isn’t safe

Many of the families we help in Phoenix and Scottsdale call us after a hospital or rehab stay, when the care team says it is time to leave and going home alone isn’t safe. We work with the discharge planner and focus on places with real openings that can meet the person’s needs.

Read what to do when the hospital says it’s time to leave, or see how we help with a discharge. Discharge planners and case managers can refer a patient here.

Hospitals families in Phoenix and Scottsdale are often discharged from

  • Banner University Medical Center Phoenix
  • St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center
  • Valleywise Health Medical Center
  • HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center
  • HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center
  • Mayo Clinic Hospital in north Phoenix

Listed so you know we help with discharges from these hospitals. We are an independent service and are not affiliated with them.

Paying for care

Paying for care in Arizona

Most families pay privately at first, from savings, income or the sale of a home. Two programs can help with the cost for people who qualify, and it is worth checking early because applications take time.

When you call, we’ll ask about budget early so we only suggest places that fit, and we’ll tell you which ones accept ALTCS.
